PONY
These were built in Greece and
have the later style engine and disk brakes, the body is wider and
somewhat
heavier than the 2CV, but the interior is relatively nice and has full
carpeting and well padded seats.
There were only a handful of
Ponies
brought into U. S. by a certified importer in California, and brought
up
to conform to regulations in mid eighties.
This
car was purchased from a man who has many vintage and unusual cars that
he rents for use in movies and commercials, this car has been used in a
movie and a Pepsi advert.
The
close up of the door shows the logo decal which was put on when it was
used in the movie.
The
remnant of orange paint is from use in the Pepsi commercial when the
whole
car was painted in that color with watercolor, it was not washed very
good
and after some years it is rather difficult to remove, I have managed
to
get most of it off now.
I
have the car in Montana, here in the summer of 99 we are getting ready
to participate in the county fair parade, the other trucks belong to a
friend who is an avid collector of old vehicles and farm equipment and
has almost a hundred assorted models.
This
picture was taken in 1976 at the shores of Caspian sea with some
co-workers
from U. S. and England, I was on assignment there for a few months and
got this car, it is a Citroen made in Iran, similar to the Pony, it was
called Mehari there, the factory also produced Dyane in sedan and pick
up form which was named Jian.
I am the one on the right.
I have removed the decals
and cleaned up the orange color, it is used during summer months and
taken to local car shows where it gets a lot of attention.

It has the late style 602
with disk brakes, the headlights are original adjustable units, overall
it is in perfect condition and still has the original top and paint and
everything is in good working order.
