MINI TRUCK
This is a suzuki small truck I got
in spring of 07 from Victoria, BC Canada, it fit nicely in the back of
my pick up, same size vehicles all with 660 CC engines are made by
Honda, Dihatsu, Nissan and others. Some of these are imported to U. S.
from Japan by private parties as gray market vehicles, since they don't
meet current regulations, a plate is tack welded over the shifter
blocking high gears and thus claiming max. speed of 25 Mph qualifying
them as off road vehicles. Most states will not register them for road
use, but in Montana since they license ATV,s they allow regular
registration, so this toy truck is legal for on road use.
This is four wheel drive with four speed and hi/low transfer case with shift and differential lock, with the original 145x12 tires the top end was around 60 Mph, the lug pattern is identical to GEO Metro/ Suzuki Swift, I got a set of 13" rims from wrecking yard and put on 175x13-80 tires which gave about 15% higher ratio making it more suitable for the highway.
These trucks are "wrong hand" drive with steering wheel on right, takes a bit of getting used to and shifting with left hand, the turn signal and wiper levers are also reversed and when making left turn I turn on the wipers most of the time.
The interior room is rather small and being a bit over 6' tall the knees are almost to the dash and no way to move the seat back any more, it is fine for short drives but will not take it for drives longer than half hour.
